ProvenanceWith The Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery, LondonAcquired from the above by Tom Bendhem, 29 June 1988Gifted by the above to The Contemporary Art Society, LondonGeoffrey Rigden was an abstract painter and sculptor, influenced by an eclectic number of French and American artists and also a love of jazz. After studying at the Royal College of Art, he went on to teach at both Canterbury College of Art and in the Fine Art department at the University of Reading, as well as working for several years as a part-time assistant at the legendary Kasmin Gallery, helping with shows by artists including Anthony Caro and Kenneth Noland, artists who both influenced his work.
