Description

the first of a seated boy playing with a parrot, the second of a seated girl playing with a spaniel, both signed A.G Lanzirotti, raised on octagonal white and grey marble bases, 38cm wide, 47cm high (14.5" wide, 18.5" high)

Notes


Lanzirotti was born in Palermo. In 1863 he obtained the position of portrait sculptor to King Vittorio Emmanuele II. He settled in Paris, where he established a studio. The Martin Foundry cast the majority of his work, and may well have cast the present pair of bronzes. See,Panzetta, Vol I p.p 162-63
