Item Overview

Description

oil on canvas At the time of the 1997 sale (see Provenance below), Dr. Federico Zeri confirmed the attribution to Gianlisi, the Younger, based on photographs. Gianlisi was probably born in Piacenza and seems to have moved at an early age to Parma. He later lived in Crema, Bergamo, Brescia, Venice and Vicenza. He died in Cremona in May, 1727. He most likely studied initially under his father, Antonio, also a painter of still lifes, and later came under the influence of Baschenis and Bettera.
