Item Overview

Description

Antonín Mánes (1784-1843)
ROCKY LANDSCAPE WITH A COWHERD. 1820’s. A motif from the Bohemian Paradise. The attached expert opinion by Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová says that this is an unmistakable and beautiful work by Antonín Mánes. „In comparison with other works by Antonín Mánes, I believe that this landscape was painted during the twenties when Mánes concentrated himself on composed, arranged landscapes. Like the European landscape painters from classical and romantic periods he searched in nature for picturesque motifs and made precise sketches which then used in the studio for arranging new ideal sceneries. Only in case of painting a concrete location he worked according to reality. The more he studied nature on his educational walks, the more he painted the whole landscape scenery as it was seen instead of just putting its ideal fragments together. Thanks to his studying in nature, Mánes was able to present an arranged landscape as it was a real one. Presented Rocky landscape with a cowherd with a motif from around Mnichovo Hradiště on the horizon is an impressive painting in composition and colour and is a very significant document of what was said above.“ Oil on canvas, 74x99 cm. Framed, metal name plate attached to the frame. Condition restored.

Zustand restauriert.

Notes

With expert opinion by PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová. The painting was examined and it‘s autenticity proved by PhDr. Mgr.
(Jacob van Ruisdael, Allaert Pietersz van Everdingen) a romantiky působícími v Drážďanech (Caspar David Friedrich, Johan Christian Clausen Dahl). Vedle svých tamních žáků silně ovlivnil dílo svých dětí, Josefa, Quida a Amálie.
Opatřeno znaleckým posudkem PhDr. Naděždy Blažíčkové-Horové. Posoudil a pravost potvrdil PhDr. Mgr. Michael Zachař.
