Item Overview

Description

Anton Laupheimer (Erbach 1848-1927 Munich) The Tribute, signed A. Laupheimer, Oil on canvas, 148 x 131 cm, framed, (Rei) Anton Laupheimer: He attended the Stuttgart Academy between 1865 and 1869. He studied under, among others, Bernhard Neher the Younger and Heinrich Rustige. He then moved to Munich, where he lived for the rest of his life. In his early years Laupheimer was influenced by Franz von Defregger and Ludwig Knaus' genre paintings. He later cultivated a tonal colour-grading, which was reminiscent of the aesthetic of Albert von Kellers. His particularly preferred theme was the clerical genre. A. Laupheimer belonged to a group of painters that emerged from the Piloty School. Despite the move to Munich he never dispensed with the painterly impulses derived from the Piloty circle.
