Anton Goossens, Belgian 1903-1980- Untitled, abstract compositions; recto/verso, oil and texture on industrial board, signed and dated 58: together with two other similar recto/verso untitled abstract studies, both oil on board, each signed and dated 58 and 66 respectively, 123x102cm, each, (3) (recto/verso) Note: Anton Goossens, Belgian, 1903-1980 was a fixture in the eccentric Antwerp art scene of the 1950s and 60s. His work was championed by the young Belgian avant-garde, who included it in their own provocative exhibitions in the late 1950s. From small "three-minute drawings" to large textured paintings on industrial insulation paneling, the works reflected Goossen's fascination with the human face and form as archetypal modernist image.
