Notes

Jeune fille napolitaine first appeared at the Salon in plaster in 1837. A bronze version was exhibited the following year and is now in the Musée de Bordeaux. Antoine-Laurent Dantan was the elder brother of the sculptor Jean-Pierre Dantan (see following lot) and for this reason is often called Dantan ainé.
