Design for a decorative panel with a Triumph of Diana with inscription 'Antoine Caron' ( verso ) black chalk, pen and brown ink, brown wash heightened with white on light brown paper, in an inscribed oval, fragmentary watermark grapes 85/8 x 55/8 in. (220 x 142 mm.) LITERATURE C. von Prybram-Gladona, Unbekannte Zeichnungen alter Meister aus europ„ischem Privatbesitz, Munich, 1969, no. 21, illustrated. NOTES A similar drawing by Caron, perhaps related to the same commission, is in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, J. Erhmann, Antoine Caron, Peintre des fêtes et des massacres, Paris, 1986, p. 213, fig. 213: it represents Apollo and the Muses in an inscribed shape, also for a decorative panel.
