Anthony (Tony) Morse Urquhart 1934 - Canadian oil on linen Requiem for a Dead Bird 36 x 36 inches 91.4 x 91.4 centimeters signed and dated 1957 and on verso signed and titled on the artist's label Provenance:Acquired directly from the Artist in Winnipeg By descent to the present Private Collection, Toronto Requiem for a Dead Bird was included and given an award in The Winnipeg Show, which was an important art biennial held by the Winnipeg Art Gallery that started in the early 1950s, ran for 24 years and included 12 exhibitions. Urquhart was the only artist in Canada to exhibit works in all 12 exhibitions. This piece also traveled to and was exhibited at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota in conjunction with The Winnipeg Show.
