Notes

PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE JACOBUS A. KLAVER, AMSTERDAM
Anthonie was the brother of the famous Amsterdam painter of decorative wall-paintings, Jurriaan Andriessen. The artistic achievements of the family also continued into the next generation: Jurriaan's son, Christiaan, was an accomplished draftsman, best known for the delightful pictorial "diary" that he filled with dated sketches between 1805 and 1808. The charm and narrative skill of Christiaan's diary drawings are also abundantly evident in this drawing by his uncle, Anthonie.
