A. K. Dolven was born in Oslo, Norway and from 1978-88 studied at art schools in Paris, Oslo and Berlin. She has since lived and worked in London, establishing her place in the contemporary art scene with her photographs, video installations and paintings which comment on contemporary life within 'timeless' landscapes. She places the extraordinary within ordinary scenes that irresistibly evoke contemplation. Tending towards minimalism, these images are still reflections of alluring beauty.

Dolven has exhibited extensively internationally and in London, at the Wilkinson Gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Royal Academy of Arts. Her work is held in public collections including the Arts Council Collection, UK, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA and The National Gallery, Oslo.
