Anna Airy was born at Greenwich, the only daughter of Wilfred Airy and granddaughter to Sir George Biddell Airy, astroner royal from 1835-1881.
She trained at the Slade under Fred Brown, Phillip Wilson Steer and Henry Tonks, she graduated in 1903 having won all the Slade first prizes and the Melville Nettleship Price in three consecutive years.
In 1916 she married Geoffrey Pocock and settled at Playford near Ipswich, she became the first female President of the Ipswich Art Club when she was elected in 1945.
