Diary of the English naval administrator and Member of Parliament Pepys (1633-1703), one of the most significant primary source for the English Restoration period featuring personal revelation and eyewitness accounts of the Great Plague and Great Fire of London, the Second Dutch War, etc. Illustrated with 60 black illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard (57 plates and 3 tail-pieces) and 4 red maps of London by A.E. Taylor engraved on two double leaves.Provenance : F. Bemelmans (ex-libris). Boards encircled with gilt frames and decorated with angular fleurons, upper board with inlaid design of Pepys holding a candlestick reproducing the plate of p. 400. - Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused
- All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more), works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series. Please note that "inc." means, in French, "not complete".
