OTHER PROPERTIES
Over the years a large number of still life paintings by an unidentified Italian artist, active in Lombardy in the second half of the 17th Century, have been assigned to the 'Pseudo Fardella' or 'Painter of Carlo Torre'. However, stylistic comparisons with a painting discovered on an art market in Piacenza, Italy, which was signed in monogram: A.M.R., recently led to the identification of this prolific mushroom painter. Over half of the hundred or so paintings which can now be attributed to Angelo Maria Rossi, depict wild mushrooms, including the present work.

We are grateful to Alberto Crispo for suggesting an attribution to Angelo Maria Rossi on the basis of photographs. This attribution has kindly been confirmed by Giuseppe Cirillo.υ1 1.
