He first gained recognition as a member of ChromaZone, a collective that revived figurative painting and emphasized the multicultural aspects of Toronto in the 1980s. Moving on to installation and mixed media later in the decade, he began exploring identity in a social context, focusing on his own sexual orientation. Fabo is an HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ activist and many of his works and exhibitions concern the physical struggles of living with HIV. He currently teaches at the Toronto Art School and is working on a community based project with Canada’s HIV treatment information network.Estimate: $1,500–1,800
