A gentleman believed to be John Austen (c. 1716-1807), facing left in silver-bordered lavender-coloured coat, silver-bordered blue waistcoat and cravat, powdered wig en queue enamel on copper oval, 1 5/8 in. (42 mm.) high, gold frame with reeded border PROVENANCE By family descent. NOTES John Austen of Broadford, Kent, married Joanne (d. 9 July 1811), daughter of Walter Weeks of Sevenoaks on 22 February 1759 at St. James's, Westminster. He was buried at Horsmonden, Kent.
