NOTE

Pierre-Gaston Brion was commissioned by Napoleon, Charles X and Louis-Philippe to supply numerous pieces to Fontainebleau, Versailles, Pau and the Tuileries. This fauteuil is similar to a suite of furniture ordered by Napoleon in 1812 which was not used and was stored in the Garde-Meuble until 1838. It was subsequently moved to the salon de la famille of the Grand Trianon and remains at Versailles. See D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebénistes Parisiens, Paris, 1951, p. 77, Pl. IX, fig. 16
