AN ELEGANT PALE BLUE-GLAZED
GE-TYPE VASE

18th/19th century

Heavily potted and thickly glazed, of elongated ovoid shape with rounded shoulder and wide waisted cylindrical neck with gently everted rim, the entire body with an undulating surface under a pale lavender-blue glaze with a primarily gray crackle with some smaller pale russet crackle in places, the glaze stopping at the short spreading foot and continuing over the rim to the interior, supported on a wide rounded biscuit foot ring with brown staining, the base glazed.


9 3/8in (23.8cm) high

Generally, in fair condition, save for a short C-shaped flaw at a crackle line at the rim with small wax infill. The base has a small drill hole infilled. One minor kiln glaze air bubble pinprick and a few minute glaze imperfections but mostly unobtrusive. The interior glaze has coiling marks from swilling the glaze prior to firing. The undulating surface of the vessel may be a molded floral design, but we cannot be certain. Recommended
