ALKEN, Henry. [A Few Ideas being Hints to All Would-Be Whips]. London: Thomas McLean, 1827. A set of 6 hand-coloured etched plates (209 x 253mm), window-mounted in 4° album (355 x 410mm), with modern letterpress title added. (A few isolated spots.) Green half morocco by Aquarius, gilt-lettered spine and cover label.

STRONGLY IMPRESSIVE IN ITS RENDERING OF SPEED AND RARE AS A SEPARATE WORK, this series depicts out-of-control coach drivers, and was originally published at one guinea with the title on the front wrapper. It also formed part of the larger work, Ideas, Accidental and Incidental, to Hunting and Other Sports (1826-30). AE records no sale of the separate work since 1948.
