Alipio Jaramillo, "Barequera" oil on masonite. Signed lower right "Alipio Jaramillo", with gallery label on the reverse "Quinta Galeria, Bogota, Colombia". Unframed. Board: 23.5"H x 16"W. Provenance: Quinta Galeria, Bogota, Colombia. Alipio Jaramillo (Columbian, 1913-1999) studied fresco and mural techniques in Chile with David Alfaro Siqueiros and was one of the first Colombian artists to develop a muralist project in his country. He is known for his paintings depicting the everyday struggles of the poor, the civil unrest and political turmoil in Colombia.
