Description

Miss Roper, wearing blue dress over white lace slip, jewel encrusted heart-shaped pendant on a gold chain about her neck and matching bracelet, her hair dressed in ringlets and plaited across the crown, she rests her right elbow on a gold-coloured cloth.
Signed on the reverse and dated Painted by/ Alf.υd Edw.υd Chalon R.A/ London/ 1825 and inscribed in pencil Portrait of Miss Roper/ Niece of Lord Teynham, gilt-metal frame.
