Description

Alfred Bendiner (PA, 1899-1964), Two PA Prints,The first is signed and titled in lower right "Alfred Bendiner / Elfreth's Alley," four figures in 19th century dress congregate on the narrow Elfreth's Alley, opened in 1702, the alley is among the oldest continually inhabited residential streets in the United States and a Philadelphia landmark, matted and framed under glass. DOA 20.75" x 23.5"; SS 13" x 15.75" The second is also signed and titled "Alfred Bendiner / Kiosk," a street sign reads 14th Street as figures gather around a central kiosk advertising publications, performances, and the zoo, matted and framed under glass. DOA 25.25" x 21.5"; SS 17.5" x 13.5"; The lot also includes a copy of "Bendiner's Philadelphia" by Alfred Bendiner, in which both of the above prints are described and illustrated. From the collection of Blue Greenberg of Raleigh, NC, art critic for the Herald Sun and Professor Emeritus of Meredith College.
