Alexandre Alaux (American, 1851-1932; Active New Orleans), good double portrait miniature of a man and wife, fourth quarter 19th century, the wife depicted wearing a ferroniere and an aigrette, the husband wearing a black tie and a diamond lapel pin in the form of a coronet, each signed center "A. Alaux", presented in a period gilt-brass double frame joined by a furled bowknot in the Louis XVI style and glazed, h. 3-1/4", w. 4-1/4". Ex-collection: Dr. James W. Nelson, Gonzales, Louisiana.
