The author Mary Stuart Boyd and her artist husband Alexander travelled to the Balearic Islands in 1910 search of a subject for their third and final joint travel book. They arrived at Palma, Mallorca, but it was Ibiza that so impressed them, Mary wrote: "Iviza has beautiful and romantic scenery, and life in the lovely island is sweet, simple and wholesome."
