Alexander Gould (British, 1870-1948), "Lynmouth," oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left "A. Carruthers Gould / 1929," depicts a horse and rider accompanying a flock of sheep with their sheep dog along the dramatic Devon coastline, retains the remnants of a paper label inscribed "'Lynmouth' North Devon / by / Alex Carruthers Gould / RBA.RWA / (illegible)," housed in a very fine hand carved and gilded frame with J. H. Steer red paper label (also retains a paper label reading "Bristol / 1927 / Dicksee & Co."). SS 24.5" x 29.5"; DOA 32.5" x 37.5"
