Description

ALEXANDER FLORENSKY (RUSSIAN B1960), "Derevnya Pavshino na Oredezh" (The Village Pavshino on the Oredezh River), Winter, 1984, oil on canvas, 50 x 65 cm (19 5/8 x 25 5/8 in.), signed, titled, and dated on the verso. Alexander Florensky is one of the main members of the "Mitki" artist's group of Leningrad/St. Petersburg. In this painting, he painted a village on the Oredezh river, which is in the south-western part of the Leningrad Oblast. The village, named Pavshino, became a sort of artist's colony when a group of young artists settled there in the 1950s, and has a special significance for St. Petersburg artists. THIS PAINTING IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT RESERVE.
