Description

Alexander Bower, 1875-1952, was a well know Maine artist, who lived in and around Cape Elizabeth. This painting seems to be a watercolor on artist board and is signed lower right A. Bower. The reason I say seems to be a watercolor is that in many regards it has a look of oils as well and may be a mixed media piece. On the back is an old penciled price of $125 with no title or date of the scene. Waves are crashing onto rocks with light reflecting on the water. Lots of action in this piece. Painting size is 26 1/2" wide by 19 1/2" tall, framed behind glass in what appears to be the original frame would be dimensions of 40" wide by 32" tall.
