Lot 140: ALEKSEI PETROVICH TKACHEV (RUSSIAN, B. 1922)

signed in Cyrillic A. Tkachev (lower right); also dated 1963 (on the reverse) oil on board Aleksei Tkachev was born in Chugunovka, in the region of Bryansk in 1925. Since the 1950s, he has worked in tandem with brother Sergei Tkachev (see lot 139), sharing studios in Moscow. Both have earned the title "People's Artist of the USSR," as well as the "Repin Prize of the Russian State Federation." They have exhibited extensively, and their work appears in private and public collections in Russia as well as the United States.
