ALEKSEI PETROVICH TKACHEV RUSSIAN, B. 1922 LITTLE HERDSMAN signed in Cyrillic A. Tkachev (lower right) oil on canvas 27 1/2 by 23 3/4 in. 69.8 by 60.3cm. PROVENANCE Acquired directly from the artist EXHIBITED The Grace Museum, Abilene, Texas, November 1998-January 1999 Aleksei Tkachev was born in Chugunovka, in the region of Bryansk in 1925. Since the 1950s, he has worked in tandem with brother Sergei Tkachev, sharing studios in Moscow. Both have earned the title "People's Artist of the USSR," as well as the "Repin Prize of the Russian State Federation." They have exhibited extensively, and their work appears in private and public collections in Russia as well as the United States.
