Provenance

: Family of Mr Desmond Pyment, Campden. There are just three known examples of 'Puck' in existance. One was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1921, a second version was found to be at a home in Evesham and this version belonged to a Mr Desmond Pyment and was situated in his garden in Campden.

Notes

Alec Miller was a Guildsman and Sculptor working in Chipping Campden and the surrounding region in the 1920s. Miller worked in bronze, alabaster, wood, wax and plaster, as well as stone. Many of his works were designed by F.L.Griggs. He has carvings in St Jame's Church and St Catherine's Church in Campden, as well as in the surrounding areas of Shipston-on-Stour, Aston, Broadway, Willersey, Bourton-on-the-Water, Snowshill, Cleeve, Chedworth, Cirencester, Blockley, Bicester and Oxford. Exhibitions: Miller's first one-man show was at the XXI Gallery on Durham Street, Adelphi, London, in April 1920, the catalogue listed 26 exhibits, including 'Puck' in stone.
