Description

Albert Byron Olson (American/Colorado, 1885-1940), "Still Life - Madonna of the Peonies," oil on canvas, signed upper right corner, titled and signed on the verso, in addition numerous partial gallery exhibition tags are mounted to the stretchers, possibly including ones for Babcock Galleries in New York, measures 18 x 22 inches, overall in the arts and crafts period frame it measures 20.50 x 24.50 inches. CONDITION: Good, could use a cleaning. Albert Byron Olson (1885-1940), born in Montrose, Colorado, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, studied in Europe and moved to Denver in 1902. A prominent Denver artist, Olson married Anne Fox Oliphant in 1932. He was well exhibited during his lifetime, including at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Panama Pacific International Exposition, San Francisco Art Association, Denver Art Association, Denver Art Museum, Panama California International Exposition, Allied Arts, Mac Dowell Club and The Orange Gallery. He also did murals for St. Andrews Church in Denver.
