Two Enamelled Panels on Metal Depicting Maidens, circa 1900 one depicts a maiden rising from the sea, with winged cupid, the companion with winged maiden emblematic of night, both mounted framed and glazed image areas 17.5cm x 9cm and 21cm x 9cm signed bottom right 'ACCJ' (2)

Born Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs. Jann was the son of Ludwig Louis Hartmann Adalbert Jahn (c.1839-1911, born in Thuringia, Germany), china painter, designer and art director. Albert was the brother of Francis H. Aloysius (1871-1967), sculptor and teacher. Albert studied at Hanley School of Art and the National Art Training Schools (Royal College of Art) where he was awarded a travelling scholarship. Between c.1890-1905 Jahn was headmaster of Wolverhampton School of Art. During this time he produced a number of pieces of art jewellery which he sold to the Victoria and Albert Museum. In 1905 he was appointed Headmaster of Sheffield School of Art.
