BY JOHN T. BOWEN (1801-1856) Collared Peccary. Male. (Plate XXXI), from The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America Dycoteles Torquatus lithograph with hand-coloring, 1844, on wove paper, with margins, pale light- and time staining, pale surface soiling, scattered foxing (mainly in the upper left corner), pale moisture staining in the lower right margin corner, a few very small losses along the lower left margin edge, a few repaired diagonal tears in the upper right margin corner (backed), a very small tear in the center left margin edge, mat staining on the reverse, remains of old tape on the reverse of the upper right margin edge, otherwise generally in good condition, framed L. 191/4 x 231/2 in. (488 x 596 mm.) S. 21 3/16 x 27 7/16 in. (537 x 696 mm.) PROVENANCE Kennedy Galleries, New York.
