20 x 26cm (7 7/8 x 10 1/4in).
together with nine further pen and ink sketches by the same hand, the first inscribed '..of the four in hand club at the magazine, Hyde Park, original for H.V. Morton's When You Visit London"', 25 x 30cm; Tower Bridge, Horseguards Parade; Buckingham Palace; The Cloisters, Westminster; Whitehall 1925; Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and two others, two framed the remainder unframed (10)

Contrary to the inscription on the Hyde Park drawing it appears this wasn't used in the publication, the others illustrations were and are illustrated on pages 25, 32, 66, 92, 94, 108, 134, 196, 276, of the book, published Harper and Brothers, 1927. A first edition copy of this book is offered with this lot together with two further 'Beachcomber' books illustrated by Adam Horne; 'Mr Thake & the Ladies'; 'Mr Thake again', the second with personal dedication to the illustator.

H.V. Morton is best known under his long term pseudonym 'Beachcomber'. and was the longest standing writer under this non de plume of the popular Daily Express column of the same name. The Beachcomber column was established in 1919 by John Bernard Arbuthnot and taken over first by D. B. Wyndham-Lewis and then Morton, Adam Horne illustrated the column.
