Christides' abstract flowers are brought to life through his characteristic use of thick impasto and expressive colours. The plants burst forth from the earth in an explosive array of lush colours. Adept at looking at his subjects from an unusual angle, the artist takes a "worm's eye" view in the present painting. By drawing the viewer's gaze directly into the maze of vegetation, the artist transports him to a primeval world expressing fertility and the fecundity of the earth.
