Abraham recognises angels in three men whom he invites into his home. He washes their feet, offers them a meal and recieves the prophecy that his wife will bear him a son.

Notes

Fossey was a student of Blondel and Cogniet in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. During the period of 1846-69 his works were presented in the Salon. 1852 he recieved the second Rome-prize.
