Abdul Kadir Al-Raes simultaneously paints in two very different styles. For his landscape and architectural scenes, his style is photorealistic, very keenly observed, with a delicate beige palette set off by flashes of blue. At the same time he also paints abstract and abstracted calligraphic paintings, sometimes with a very different colouring. What unites both is his signature of small floating squares, which appear even in the most realistic of his paintings.

One of the foremost artists in the UAE, this painting demonstrates his profound love of his homeland and its traditions.
