Probably by Mathieu de Tombay The bearded figure shown standing holding a scroll to his left hand, with loose drapery about his shoulders, the base inscribed DETOMBAY DE LIEGE FECIT 441/2in. (113cm.) high NOTES Mathieu de Tombay (1768-1852) worked in Liege and was father to Alexandre (active mid 19th century and whose son Francois, also a sculptor, was active at the end of the nineteenth and the start of the following century).
