A SMALL 'ROBIN'S EGG'-GLAZED BOWL

18th/early 19th century

The thinly potted rounded sides rising from a simple concave base with narrow unglazed foot ring to the neatly gilt rim, the center of the interior convex, all under a fine 'robin's egg' glaze with a beautiful network of minute manganese-purple circlets on a lavender-blue ground with pinkish tones at the rim and interior.


4 5/8in (11.7cm) diam

Crescent-shaped rim chip to the exterior side of the vessel that continues slightly to the interior edge. A few minute air bubble pinpricks but unobtrusive. Thinly potted. A most attractive vessel despite the rim chip.
