A SMALL BLUE AND WHITE SOFT PASTE BOTTLE VASE

18th century

The pear-shaped body tapering to a tall slender, slightly flaring neck, with an unusually high-polish glaze with very little crackle and painted in dark cobalt blue with two figures dwarfed in a mountainous coastal landscape with small buildings and trees, an off-shore boat and birds flying above.


7 3/8in (18.7cm) high

Some air bubble pinpricks to the rim, one slightly larger (0.2cm). A small kiln adhesion to the lower body (0.2cm). Very neatly delineated landscape painting.
