Notes

A matching figure was sold by Bonhams Knightsbridge, Marine Sale Part Two, 23rd September 2008, lot 520.

This figure is a scale model of Callcott's memorial, located on the seafront at Margate, to the lifeboat crew of the "Friend to all Nations". This vessel capsized off Margate Sand on Thursday December 2nd 1897 whilst going to the rescue of the "Persian Empire". The original was cast in bronze by Elkington & Co. Ltd, and it is likely that they also produced these rare miniatures.
