Description

Edo period (dated 1830), incised date and signature on base Bunsei kanoe tora Robei zo (Made by Mokubei in 1830) and impressed seals Seirai and Mokubei [Aoki Mokubei (1767-1833)]
Modeled after a Chinese archaic ritual vessel, set on a high, slightly splayed foot and decorated with cranes and lotus moulded in high-relief and with notched flanges on the sides, painted in yellow, green and aubergine enamels, the handle modeled as a Chinese-style mythical beast; lower half of the basin of the vessel and interior of the foot and base of the vessel unglazed
