Eucher Girardin (d. 1899) studied under Jean Marie Bonnassieux and Jacques-Louis Gautier. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1883 and the present figure was first shown in plaster in 1897 (no2995), before being re-entered in bronze the following year (no3461).
