by Guidon, Rémond & Gide, marked, Geneva, circa 1800, the enamel by Jean-Louis Richter (1766-1841), signed 'Richter F..t' (lower right), later struck with two French post-1893 import marks for gold
Rectangular flattened box with rounded corners, the cover enamelled en plein with a view of the bay of Naples see from Chiaia with the Vesuvius in the background and merry fisherfolk in the foreground, inscribed 'Vue de Naples..', within a black enamelled gold band with taille d'épargne twisted gold foliate garlands enclosing blue and white enamelled stripes, the base identically framed and centred by a guilloché vertically reeded panel enamelled in translucent orange and bright blue with a diaper pattern with white rosettes at the intersections, the four side panels similarly enamelled and framed by white enamel bands, the four corners enamelled in black and engraved en taille d'épargne in gold with trophies of war, the lid with bright-cut rims
