Description

A fine German silver and silver-gilt canister Mark of Jürgen Richels, Hamburg, date-letter A, circa 1690 Hexafoil and with screw off cover with hinged ring handle, the sides engraved with panels of scrolling acanthus leaves, three panels enclosing an oval cartouche with the figures of a lady next to a fallen tree, a resting gentleman and his dog and a court jester washing his hands, gilt interior fitted with another parcel-gilt cylindrical inside cover with an oval handle, marked on base 16.5 cm. high 744 gr.
