A FABERGÉ SILVER COVERED SUGAR BOWL AND CREAM JUG, WORKMASTER ALEXANDER VÄKEVÄ (WÄKEVA), ST PETERSBURG, 1904-1908 in neoclassical taste, the urn-form bodies cast with winged lion's heads above tripod supports, chased leaf and berry boders, the circular bases centred with rosettes, the sugar bowl with fir cone finial, gilt interiors, struck with workmaster's initials and K.Fabergé in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial Warrant, 88 standard, scratched inventory numbers 13870 (sugar) and 13871 (cream) Quantity: 2 height of sugar bowl: 21.5cm, 8 1/2 in.

This sugar bowl and cream jug are of the same design as the tea service by the 1st Artel, Moscow, which was a silver wedding anniversary gift from Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna, widow of Grand Duke Konstantine Nikolaevich, to her son Konstantin Konstantinovich and his wife Elizaveta Mavrikievna in 1909, and is now in the Hillwood Museum Collection.
