Description

A FABERGÉ IMPERIAL JEWELLED SILVER-GILT AND ENAMEL BRATINA, WORKMASTER ANDERS NEVALAINEN, ST PETERSBURG, 1899-1903 enamelled in translucent apple green over banded wavy engine-turning and inset with four half-rouble silver coins of Elizabeth I and Catherine II, the rim set with four cabochon garnets within shaded cloisonné enamel leaves on a stippled ground, struck with workmaster's initials and K.Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard, scratched inventory number 6711 height: 6cm, 2 3/8 in.

Provenance

This object was a joint purchase by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna and Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich, each billed by Fabergé on 20 December 1900 for half the total purchase price of 80 roubles. Such joint purchases by Their Imperial Highnesses were usually gifts for their mother, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna.
