The circular moulded grey fossil marble top above a moulded frieze, on scrolled tripod supports carved with palmettes and joined by stretchers, with paw feet, stamped '.IACOB' three times, the marble associated, originally conceived with a dished top

A virtually identical model, albeit of slightly larger scale, was supplied in 1837 to Louis-Philippe for the Salon of the Grand Trianon, Versailles (ill. in D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Français du XIXème Siècle, Paris, 2000, p. 363. The latter table de famille formed part of a series of identical tables, each fitted with eight drawers intended for the Queen and the princesses, delivered to the various residences of the Royal family. A further related guéridon dated c.1832-5 and also stamped by Jacob-Desmalter, once formed part of the collection of Louis-Philippe at the château de Neuilly (ill. Ibid, p. 361).
