In 1754 Gunther was appointed court sculptor to the Bavarian Electorate. The present figure shows the influence of Gunther in the treatment of the clothing and face. This can be seen when comparing to the figure of an Adoring Angel sculpted by Gunther in 1770, in the Liebighaus, Frankfurt.
