Despite the architectural detail and precision evident in many of Battaglioli's compostions, none of the buildings in either this or the preceding lot appear to be identifiable. In the present picture, however, the seafront building with a carefully planned garden ornamented by classicising statues is reminiscent of the celebrated garden of the Palazzo del Principe, Genoa, seat of the Doria princes.
